Dare to Share Featured Frugal Blogger for this week is Kristie, who writes the blog This Side of Eternity.

When & why did you start blogging?

I started blogging almost four years ago. I am a homeschooling mom who was spending a lot of time at home, and I needed a place to connect with others who were in the same position as me. It started out as a way to share ideas with other homeschooling moms and get encouragement, but it quickly grew into a place to share all kinds of things including deals, coupons, freebies, giveaways, and ideas. I still share homeschooling freebies and ideas, but I am now sharing those things from all areas of life as well.

What motivates you to continue blogging?

I love my friends who stop by to visit everyday. It has given me a place to share what I have learned, and learn what others have to share. The people who visit my blog regularly have given me so much, and I am thankful for the opportunity to to know that there are others on this frugal journey with me.

First money-saving blogs you discovered?

Money Saving Mom
Kingdom First Mom

These are the two Blogs that I followed regularly. I learned so much from the Money Saving Mom Blog, and Kingdom First Mom inspired me to use my money to glorify God first.

Your favorite frugal post.

Sometimes it really does help to write things down in very simple steps. I love looking back at these steps whenever I am beginning to feel a little Frugal Burnout coming on.

The road to Becoming Frugal Minded is taken one step at a time, so don’t get overwhelmed and enjoy the journey!

Craziest thing you’ve done to save a buck.

The craziest thing I’ve done lately to save a buck is keep my heat set at 62 degrees this winter. Living in Michigan, it can get pretty cold. But we have a little woodburner that heats half of the house, and lots of wool socks and blankets to keep us warm. And my heat bill stays under $100!

This doesn’t feel like it’s that crazy, but my friends and family think it is pretty crazy.

Ok, forgive my ignorance, as I am VERY new to all this, but what is a “blogger”?? Does it mean someone who “starts” a website? Or, anyone that makes regular posts? I’m so confused… Thanks!
